Transformers: War for Cybertron - Autobots came out on the Nintendo DS in 2010, published by Activision. You control Bumblebee at first, later unlocking characters like Optimus Prime, each with their own feel and abilities. The core gameplay involves moving through linear levels, shooting Decepticons, and solving simple environmental puzzles. A key mechanic is switching between robot and vehicle mode on the fly; vehicle mode is faster and used for ramming or quick escapes, while robot mode is for precise shooting. You collect energon shards to upgrade your weapons and abilities, and the pacing is fairly straightforward, though some later sections can get repetitive. It feels like a solid, condensed action experience that makes good use of the DS hardware.
