Oh man, Trolls on MS-DOS—what a weird little time capsule. You play as these goofy, big-nosed cave trolls digging tunnels, stealing each other's gold, and setting off traps that somehow feel both unfair and hilarious. The first time a boulder crushed me out of nowhere, I actually laughed. Then I got mad. Then I immediately hit "play again."
It's got that perfect '90s mix of simple controls and chaotic outcomes. You'll dig through dirt, drop rocks on rival trolls (or yourself, if you're as clumsy as I am), and scramble to grab gems before someone else does. The pixel art has this grubby charm, like someone drew it on graph paper during math class. And yeah, you'll definitely curse at the screen when you lose your last life to some nonsense—but in that way where you can't wait to jump back in.
If you miss games that don't take themselves seriously but still make you weirdly competitive, this one's a riot. Just watch out for the dynamite.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
