Game Overview

Ultima - Kyouryuu Teikoku is one of those weird, late-SNES RPGs that somehow slipped under the radar. At first glance, it looks like your standard fantasy adventure—until you realize half the enemies are velociraptors and T-rexes instead of goblins. The overworld’s packed with jungles and ruins, and random battles hit you with everything from tiny compsognathus to hulking carnosaurs. Weirdly, your party still fights with swords and magic, which makes charging a stegosaurus with a broadsword feel both ridiculous and kind of awesome.

It’s got that classic Ultima vibe, but the dinosaur twist keeps things surprisingly fresh. Just don’t expect Jurassic Park—the pixel art’s charming, but some of those dinos look like they were sketched by a kid who only half-remembered a museum visit. Still, if you’ve ever wanted to cast Fireball at a triceratops, this is your game.
