Play Ultima VI: The False Prophet on Msdos Online
Explore Britannia, talk to NPCs, solve puzzles, and battle enemies as you uncover the truth behind a gargoyle invasion in Ultima VI: The False Prophet.
Ultima VI: The False Prophet came out in 1990 for MS-DOS, developed and published by Origin Systems. It was part of that wave of ambitious PC RPGs that really pushed what you could do with world design and interaction. The game built on its predecessors, but it felt more cohesive and alive, with a visual style that made the world easier to get lost in.
You control the Avatar, summoned back to Britannia to confront a gargoyle invasion threatening the land. Your goal is to uncover why the conflict started and find a way to stop it. You explore towns, dungeons, and wilderness screen by screen, talking to NPCs with detailed portraits, managing inventory with a paper doll system, and engaging in real-time combat that pauses when you open your menu. The pacing is deliberate, with puzzles and moral choices that require attention; it's not a game you rush. Navigating the world and untangling its conflicts gives the whole experience a thoughtful, investigative weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
