Play Universal Soldier (Proto) Online
Trying to shoot in this feels like wrestling with the controller—you stop dead, fumble with the D-pad to aim, and pray you don’t get hit before landing a shot. Decent levels, but the controls ruin it.

Game Overview
Universal Soldier on SNES is one of those games that almost works—until you try to shoot anything. It’s a standard side-scrolling shooter at first glance, but the aiming system is baffling. You have to come to a full stop, hold down B, and then awkwardly rotate your shot direction with the D-pad. Who thought that was a good idea?
It’s a shame because the levels aren’t bad—some decent enemy variety, decent graphics for the time—but the controls turn every firefight into a clunky mess. I gave it a solid 10 minutes before realizing life’s too short for this kind of frustration. Stick to Contra if you want a proper SNES shooter.
