Game Overview

Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 on the N64 is one of those wrestling games that just feels right—like the developers actually watched real matches before making it. The grappling system’s got weight to it, so when you lock up with an opponent, there’s this satisfying back-and-forth before someone finally gets the advantage. And the roster? Packed with wrestlers who all move differently—some are stiff powerhouse types, others are quick and slippery.

First time I played, I spent way too long in the customization menu tweaking a wrestler’s outfit (because, of course, neon green tights are essential). The movesets are ridiculously deep, too—you can pull off stuff you’d only see in late-night Japanese wrestling tapes. Matches get chaotic in the best way, especially when you’ve got four players crammed on a couch yelling about who definitely didn’t just cheat.

If you’ve ever wanted a wrestling game that plays like the real thing instead of a button-mashing arcade mess, this is the one.
