Warlock came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Realtime Associates. It was part of that wave of action-adventure games that tried to capture some of the magic of titles like Zelda, but with its own darker, more arcade-oriented feel. You don't hear about it too often, but it had a certain charm if you found it back then.
You control a warlock exploring a large, interconnected world screen by screen, fighting monsters with a sword or by charging up elemental spells like fireballs and ice blasts. The main goal is to defeat four evil lords to reclaim pieces of a powerful amulet. The combat is fast, the dungeons are mazelike, and the difficulty can be pretty unforgiving if you're not careful with your health and magic. It feels like a brisk, challenging crawl through a world that doesn't wait for you to figure things out.
