The main goal is to defeat the evil sorcerer who has thrown the world into chaos, which involves progressing through various themed worlds. Key mechanics include screen by screen exploration, collecting spell orbs to power up your magic, and solving simple environmental puzzles. The pacing is aggressive, with enemies appearing frequently, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially in the Japanese release which is known for its tougher enemy patterns.
