Game Overview

Wayne's World on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System came out in 1993, published by THQ. It was one of those licensed games from the era that tried to capture the spirit of a popular movie, in this case the goofy, rock-and-roll humor of Mike Myers' character. On a system known for tight platformers and deep RPGs, this title stood out mostly for its theme and attitude.

You control Wayne, moving screen by screen through side-scrolling levels based on locations from the film. Your main goal is to rescue Garth from various villains, using your guitar as a weapon to bash enemies. The game includes some light puzzle-solving, like finding keys to open doors, and occasional driving sections that break up the platforming. It's not particularly long or difficult, but the collision detection can feel imprecise, and the levels sometimes drag. Playing it feels like stepping into a cheesy, interactive version of the movie, complete with awkward jokes and a lot of swinging that guitar around.
