Wild Choppers (J) is one of those N64 hidden gems where you’re basically a helicopter pilot thrown into chaotic dogfights—except everything’s in Japanese, so good luck figuring out the mission briefings. The controls take a minute to get used to (tilt the stick too hard and you’ll spiral into a mountain), but once you get the hang of weaving between skyscrapers or dodging missile locks, it’s weirdly satisfying.

The graphics are blocky in that classic N64 way, but the explosions still feel meaty, and there’s something hilarious about watching tiny polygonal tanks scatter when you rain fire on them. Missions flip between escorting allies, blowing up bases, and the occasional “oh god, five jets just spawned behind me” panic moment. Not sure if it’s better with friends, but yelling at someone while your chopper’s rotor clips a bridge never gets old.

If you’ve got a thing for janky late-90s flight games or just want to feel like a slightly drunk action hero, this one’s worth dusting off.
