Game Overview

I remember trying out the X-Men: Children of the Atom demo back when it was floating around on MS-DOS shareware discs. It was one of those early PC ports of a Capcom arcade fighter, and it definitely showed its age even then. The graphics were chunky, the sound was tinny, and getting it to run smoothly felt like a small victory in itself.

You pick from a small roster of mutants like Cyclops or Wolverine and duke it out one-on-one in various X-Men themed stages. The goal is simple: reduce your opponent's health bar to zero before they do the same to you. You execute special moves with awkward keyboard combinations; pulling off a super move feels like a minor miracle. The pacing is fast, almost too fast for the hardware, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly. It's a rough, charming slice of mid-90s PC adaptation that makes you appreciate how far fighting games have come.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
