Play X-Men Online

You pick your mutant—Wolverine shreds, Nightcrawler teleports through walls—and fight through Magneto’s sabotaged Danger Room, swapping teammates mid-brawl when Sentinels swarm. That pixelated optic blast from Cyclops never gets old.

Game Overview

X-Men on the Sega Genesis throws you straight into the Danger Room—Professor X’s high-tech training simulator—right as Magneto hijacks it with a virus. Suddenly, harmless drills turn into real fights against Sentinels, lava pits, and who knows what else. You pick from four mutants (Wolverine’s claws feel brutal, but Nightcrawler’s teleporting is way more fun than it should be) and brawl through side-scrolling chaos.

What’s cool is that even though you only control one character at a time, you can tag in other X-Men for backup. Storm shows up to clear a path with lightning, or Colossus tanks hits while you recover. The pixel art nails the comic book vibe, especially when Cyclops blasts enemies clean off the screen. Just watch out for the weird platforming bits—some jumps are way more punishing than they need to be.

It’s not the deepest beat-’em-up, but there’s something satisfying about shredding robots as Wolverine while the Genesis soundtrack blares in the background. The Danger Room gimmick keeps the levels unpredictable, even if the controls take some getting used to.
