Yars' Revenge on Game Boy Color is this weirdly addictive little shooter where you play as a bug-like Yar trying to take down a massive laser base. At first, it seems simple—just chip away at the shield on the right by shooting or ramming into it—but then the Qotile starts fighting back. There’s this relentless missile chasing you, and the only safe spot is a narrow shield in the middle where you can’t even fire. Feels like a cruel joke sometimes.

Once you break through the shield, things get tense. You’ve got to dart over to the left side, charge up the Zorlon cannon, and land a clean shot on the Qotile while dodging its random swirl attacks. Mess up, and you’re back to square one. The later rounds speed up like crazy, and there are different modes to tweak the chaos. It’s one of those games where you keep saying “one more try” until you realize half an hour’s gone by.
