Game Overview

Adventure XT is one of those MS-DOS games you boot up expecting something basic, then suddenly lose an hour to without realizing it. The pixel art is rough in that charming early-PC way, but the controls are tight—you’ll be hopping over pits and dodging weird little monsters within seconds. There’s no handholding, just a blinking cursor and the immediate panic of figuring out what kills you (spoiler: almost everything).

What surprised me was how smart the level design is. Each screen feels like a tiny puzzle—do you grab the key first or lure that floating eyeball into the spikes? It’s got that arcade vibe where death resets everything, but you keep replaying because this time you’ll nail the timing. Perfect for when you want something quick but punishing, like a retro espresso shot.

If you’ve got a soft spot for games that don’t bother with tutorials or mercy, this one’s a time capsule worth cracking open.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
