Game Overview

Airlift Rescue, part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, was developed by Softdisk Publishing and released in the early 1990s. It fits right in with the era's straightforward, action-oriented titles, offering a clear objective without much narrative fluff. The game doesn't try to be more than it is, and that simplicity is part of its appeal.

You pilot a helicopter through a series of hazardous landscapes, rescuing people stranded on cliffs, islands, and other precarious spots. The main goal is to pick them up and deliver them safely to a landing zone, all while managing limited fuel and avoiding obstacles like narrow rock formations and sudden wind gusts. The controls are responsive but unforgiving; one wrong move can send your rotor into the terrain or leave you hovering with an empty tank. The pacing is tense, especially as the fuel gauge dwindles and you're forced to make risky decisions to complete each run. It feels like a genuine test of precision and patience under pressure.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
