Game Overview

Alley Cat, released in 1983 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, was developed by Bill Williams and published by Synapse Software. It arrived during a time when many PC games were still experimenting with simple mechanics and colorful, blocky graphics, offering a playful alternative to more serious arcade ports and text adventures.

You control a stray cat navigating a multi-screen apartment complex, jumping between windowsills, avoiding angry brooms, and hunting mice. The main goal is to complete various mini-games, like catching mice in a kitchen or surviving a fishbowl full of electric eels, all to win the affection of a female cat named Felicia. Signature mechanics include screen-by-screen exploration, precise platforming jumps, and avoiding hazards that reset your progress. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving due to instant deaths and limited lives. It feels like a chaotic, charming scramble where every jump matters and mistakes are punished immediately.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
