Alone in the Dark 3 came out in 1995 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by I•Motion, Inc. It was a time when 3D adventure games were still finding their footing, and this one built on the series' reputation for mixing horror with exploration. You could tell it was aiming for something a little more ambitious than the typical point-and-click fare of the era.

You play as either Edward Carnby or a young woman named Aline Cedrac, investigating a haunted movie set in the Old West. The goal is to uncover the mystery behind the supernatural events while fighting off undead gunslingers and other creatures. You navigate screen by screen through pre-rendered environments, solving puzzles and managing limited ammunition for your weapons. The fixed camera angles often hide threats until they're right on top of you, which keeps the tension high. It feels like a tense, deliberate crawl through a place that wants you dead.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
