Game Overview

Apollo 18 Mission to the Moon came out in 1987 for MS-DOS, developed by Artech Digital Entertainment. It was one of those early space sims that tried to capture the tension of a lunar landing with the limited tech of the time. You don't get much in the way of fancy graphics or story, just a straightforward attempt to simulate a tricky descent.

You control the lunar module, carefully managing thrust and orientation to touch down safely on the moon's surface. The main goal is to land without crashing or running out of fuel. Key mechanics include monitoring your descent rate and horizontal speed, adjusting thrust to counteract the moon's gravity, and picking a level landing spot free of craters. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, but the difficulty spikes sharply if you mishandle the controls. It feels like a tense, hands-on puzzle where every input matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
