Push glowing atoms around a grid, match them by color, and clear stages while avoiding dead ends in this 1991 puzzle game for MS-DOS.
Atomic came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Impressions Games. It was a straightforward puzzle game for its time, fitting right in with the kind of thoughtful, screen-by-screen challenges that were common on the platform back then.
You control a cursor to push glowing atoms around a grid, trying to group them by color before the board fills up and locks. The main objective is to clear each stage by matching the required number of atoms, while avoiding dead ends where nothing can move. The mechanics are simple but punishing; one wrong push can force a restart. It feels like walking a tightrope, where every move has to be measured and deliberate.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
