Game Overview

So, Back to the Future on NES is... an experience. You play as Marty McFly, who somehow ends up in 1955 and has to make sure his parents actually meet—otherwise, poof, no more Marty. The game throws you right into it: you're running through Hill Valley's streets from an overhead view, dodging everything from bullies to weirdly aggressive park benches. The screen keeps scrolling, so you can't stop moving, and if you trip over something, there goes a life.

Oh, and there's this whole thing where your photo slowly fades unless you grab clocks along the way. Mess that up, and Marty vanishes. Between the running sections, you get these bizarre minigames—like flinging milkshakes at bullies (because sure) or dodging your mom's awkward romantic advances (those hearts are unsettling). The final stretch has you driving the DeLorean, collecting lightning bolts to power up for time travel. It's janky, it's weirdly hard, and somehow, it's still kind of fun in a 'what were they thinking?' way.
