Battle Bugs came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Epyx. It was a strategy game from that era when you had to type commands to get things running, and it fit right in with other tactical titles that asked you to think a few moves ahead.

You control a squad of insects, like ants and beetles, on a battlefield made from household items like cereal boxes and soap dishes. The main goal is to eliminate the enemy bug forces by moving your units across a grid, using their unique abilities to attack or defend. Key mechanics include positioning ranged attackers, like a firefly that can stun foes from a distance, and managing melee units that must get up close to deal damage. The pacing is deliberate, with each turn requiring careful consideration of the terrain and unit strengths, and the difficulty increases as new enemy types, such as swarming roaches, are introduced. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
