Game Overview

Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice came out in 1995 for MS-DOS, published by I•Motion, Inc. It was part of that wave of mid-90s adventure games that leaned into horror and atmosphere, back when point-and-click interfaces felt fresh and immersive. The game draws from H.P. Lovecraft’s mythos, placing you in a world where sanity is as fragile as your health.

You play as a military officer stationed in Antarctica, navigating through detailed, pre-rendered environments screen by screen. Your main goal is to uncover the source of a spreading supernatural threat while managing limited resources like ammunition and sanity. The gameplay involves careful exploration, inventory-based puzzles, and occasional combat against otherworldly creatures. It moves deliberately, often demanding patience and observation over action; the tension builds quietly, punctuated by moments of genuine dread. Playing it feels like stepping into a slowly unfolding nightmare where every decision carries weight.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
