Game Overview

Raptor: Call of the Shadows came out in 1994, part of that wave of MS-DOS shooters that really pushed what a PC could do with action and sound. It was developed and published by Apogee Software, back when shareware episodes were how a lot of us discovered new games. You loaded it up, and it just felt like a solid, no-nonsense entry in the vertical scrolling shooter genre.

You pilot a mercenary fighter jet, taking on contracts to wipe out enemy forces across different sectors. Your main goal is to complete missions, earn money, and pour every credit back into upgrading your ship's weapons, shields, and special equipment. The game plays out screen by screen; you scroll upward, dodging walls of enemy fire while picking off fighters, tanks, and installations. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is unforgiving, especially when a boss appears without warning. It feels like a constant test of reflexes and resource management, where every successful run leaves your hands a little shaky.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
