Game Overview

Raptor: Call of the Shadows is one of those classic MS-DOS shooters where you’re just tearing through waves of enemies in this beefy little jet. Most of what you’re blasting out of the sky are fighters and bombers, but you can also wreck ground targets—turrets, tanks, even whole buildings—which feels oddly satisfying when you’re not dodging bullets.

What I like is that your Raptor can take way more hits than in most shooters, so you’re not dying instantly if you mess up. No lives system, though—one death and it’s game over, but at least you can save between missions. The credits you earn from blowing stuff up let you upgrade weapons between runs, and the tougher enemies drop bigger payouts. Boss fights pop up at the worst possible moments, especially later on when they start ambushing you mid-wave.

It’s got that old-school difficulty where you’ll probably restart a few times, but the upgrades make each attempt feel a little less hopeless.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
