Corpse Party: Book of Shadows is like a twisted anthology of everything that made the original game so unsettling. Instead of one continuous story, you get these eight vignettes—some revisiting moments from the first game with new perspectives, others diving into fresh nightmares. The first time I played, I thought knowing what happened in Heavenly Host would make it less scary. I was very wrong.

It’s still point-and-click, but the tension comes from the little things: voices whispering through headphones (seriously, play this in the dark), the way the screen starts glitching when your character’s sanity slips, and those moments where you realize too late you picked the wrong dialogue option. Some endings are just brutal, and half the fun—if you can call it that—is seeing how badly things can unravel.

If you’re into Japanese horror or just love the series, this one’s packed with lore and gut-punch moments. Just don’t expect to sleep well afterward.
