Game Overview

Ever stumble across an old MS-DOS game that just clicks? Release the Prisoner is one of those—simple, clever, and the kind of thing you’ll keep retrying even after the third guard catches you mid-escape. You play as this little guy sneaking through blocky dungeons, luring patrolling enemies into traps, and unlocking cells to free prisoners. The graphics are pure 90s charm, but the puzzles? Surprisingly sharp.

What I love is how it doesn’t hold your hand. You’ll mess up—a lot—figuring out how to distract guards or time your moves just right. Sometimes the solution feels obvious… until you realize you’ve been overlooking one tiny detail. It’s got that Lemmings vibe where every level feels like a mini logic puzzle, but with more dramatic consequences when you fail. If you dig retro games that make you think (and occasionally groan in frustration), this one’s a blast from the past that still holds up.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
