Game Overview

Captain Blood came out on the Amiga in 1988, a time when the platform was full of ambitious, visually striking games. It was developed by ERE Informatique and Exxos, and published by several companies including Infogrames. The game stood out immediately for its strange, almost hallucinatory premise and its dense, complex interface.

You play as Captain Blood, a space explorer whose body has been cloned without his consent; you must hunt down and eliminate the five rogue clones before your own health fails. The gameplay involves piloting your ship, the Ark, to different planets, scanning their surfaces, and deploying probes to locate each clone. You interact with aliens using a communication panel filled with abstract icons, slowly learning their symbolic language to gain information or safe passage. Your health constantly drains, warping the screen and making navigation more desperate as time runs out. It feels like a race against your own body, a tense and lonely journey through a beautifully weird universe.
