Cars: Motori Ruggenti came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2006, developed by Helixe and published by THQ. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the feel of the Pixar movie on a handheld, a pretty common sight for the platform back then.
You control either Lightning McQueen or Mater, racing on tracks inspired by Radiator Springs and other locations from the film. The main goal is to win each cup by finishing first in a series of races. The gameplay relies on tight cornering using the shoulder buttons for drifting, building up a boost meter you can unleash on the straights. Mater handles with a heavy, sliding weight that makes his races a chaotic struggle for control. The difficulty is manageable but requires you to master the drift mechanic to keep up. It feels like a competent, slightly slippery arcade racer that gets the job done.
