Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow is one of those GBA gems that still holds up years later. You play as Soma Cruz, a high schooler who somehow ends up trapped in Dracula’s castle—because of course he does. The twist? You can steal enemy souls and use their abilities, which is way cooler than it sounds. Found a bat? Now you can turn into one. Killed a skeleton? Congrats, you just unlocked bone-throwing powers.
The castle’s packed with secrets, and half the fun is backtracking once you’ve snagged a new soul that lets you reach previously blocked areas. The pixel art’s gorgeous, the music slaps (as expected from Castlevania), and the combat’s just the right mix of methodical and chaotic. I spent way too long farming souls from the same enemies, but hey, that’s the grind.
