Game Overview

Chouon Senshi Borgman came out for the Sega Master System in 1988, developed by Nippon Computer Systems and published by Sega. It was one of those late 80s action games that tried to stand out with a unique transformation mechanic, something a bit different from the usual run and gun titles on the platform.

You control a soldier who can switch between a nimble human form and a heavy, armored robot at any time. The goal is to fight through side scrolling stages, defeating enemies and avoiding environmental hazards. The human moves quickly and can jump high, but the robot is slow, heavily armed, and can crush certain obstacles. Timing your transformation is key to navigating stages and surviving enemy patterns. The game moves at a brisk pace and can be quite challenging, especially when managing your limited energy for attacks. It feels tactical and tense, forcing you to think on your feet.
