Cool World on SNES is one of those weird licensed games that somehow got made after the movie. You play as Frank Harris, this detective dude who has to stop Holli Would—basically a cartoon bombshell—from crossing over into the real world. The whole thing feels like someone took the movie’s concept and ran with it in the most '90s way possible: weird platforming, awkward combat, and a soundtrack that’s either grating or weirdly catchy, depending on your tolerance for synth.
It’s not exactly a hidden gem, but there’s something oddly charming about how janky it is. Like, you’ll jump between live-action cutscenes (which look like they were filmed on a VHS camcorder) and these bright, chaotic cartoon levels. The controls take some getting used to—Frank moves like he’s on ice half the time—but once you adjust, it’s a bizarre little time capsule.
