Play Cool World on Msdos Online

Cool World came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Ocean Software. It was one of those licensed platformers that tried to ride the wave of the film's release, and it fit right in with the era's mix of ambitious, sometimes messy, movie tie-ins. You could tell it was aiming for something flashy, but it had that rough, early '90s PC game feel, where not everything clicked.

You control Frank Harris, a detective who gets pulled into the animated Cool World, and your goal is to stop Holli Would from crossing into the real world. The gameplay is straightforward side-scrolling action; you move screen by screen, shooting enemies called Doodles with a basic gun. There's some light platforming, and you collect power-ups to improve your firepower. The levels get tough pretty quickly, with enemy patterns that demand quick reflexes, and the pacing can feel uneven. Playing it feels like wrestling with a game that never quite finds its rhythm, but there's a strange charm in its oddball setting and persistent challenge.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
