Play Dangerous Dave Online
Guide Dangerous Dave through tricky levels, jump over hazards, collect gold cups, and reach the exit before the challenges send you back to the start.
Dangerous Dave came out in 1990 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by John Romero. It was one of those early side-scrolling platformers that felt right at home on a beige box PC, running on systems where EGA graphics and the clatter of a mechanical keyboard were the norm. You didn't need much to run it, just a floppy disk and a little patience for its particular brand of challenge.
You control Dave, a small character in a red cap, navigating through a series of single-screen levels. Your goal is to collect all the gold cups in each stage before reaching the exit door. You jump across platforms, avoid bouncing skulls and fire-spewing statues, and sometimes use a jetpack to reach higher areas. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding precise timing on jumps and careful observation of enemy patterns. It feels straightforward but tense, like every move could send you back to the start of the level.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
