Game Overview

Dangerous Dave's Risky Rescue came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Softdisk Publishing. It was one of those side-scrolling platformers that felt right at home in the era of floppy disks and simple, colorful graphics. You knew what you were getting into: a straightforward adventure with clear goals and a familiar setup.

You control Dave, a little guy in a red cap, running and jumping through a castle full of hazards. Your mission is to rescue your brother from the clutches of Dr. Nemesis, which means navigating screen by screen, avoiding enemies like fireball-spewing statues and bouncing skulls. You collect keys to open doors and gather treasure along the way, but the real challenge comes from the precise platforming. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty can be punishing; one mistimed jump sends you back to the start of the stage. Playing it feels like a test of patience and timing, where every small victory matters.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
