Game Overview

Dante’s Inferno on PSP is basically God of War with a medieval twist—except instead of Greek gods, you’re hacking your way through the nine circles of hell. You play as Dante, a crusader who cheats death (literally—he steals Death’s scythe) to rescue his murdered lover Beatrice from Lucifer’s clutches. The whole thing’s a wild, gory reimagining of the Divine Comedy, complete with tortured souls, grotesque demons, and Virgil popping up now and then to drop some poetic lore.

Combat’s fast and brutal—you’ve got your scythe for up-close butchery and a holy cross that blasts enemies from a distance. The coolest part? You choose whether to punish or spare the damned souls you meet, which locks you into either unholy (more scythe upgrades) or holy (stronger cross attacks) skill trees. I went unholy my first run because, well, swinging a giant scythe never gets old.

Levels are packed with platforming bits—wall climbs, rope swings, the usual—and QTEs for big boss fights. Relics add buffs like health regen or attack boosts, but you’ll swap them constantly since slot space is tight. The PSP version holds up surprisingly well—no major cuts besides a minor soul-absolving minigame. And once you beat it, there’s an arena mode to test your skills against endless demon hordes.

It’s over-the-top, unapologetically grim, and weirdly fun for a game where you fight unbaptized babies in Limbo.
