Play Dark Ages Online

You start with a weak energy bolt, but soon unlock spells like a boomerang shot or a rapid-fire beam—then melt enemies while hunting for hidden doors and cryptic key items. Those pixel-perfect jumps still kill me though.

Game Overview

Dark Ages is one of those old-school MS-DOS side-scrollers where you jump, shoot, and try not to get wrecked by enemies lurking everywhere. At first, you’re stuck with this dinky little energy bolt, but eventually, you unlock stronger spells—like a boomerang that hits enemies twice or a rapid-fire beam that melts most things instantly. (That last one’s my favorite, obviously.)

The levels are full of hidden doors, and you’ll need to track down random items—keys, shields, apples—for these cryptic Wise Men types before they’ll let you move forward. It’s got that classic "where the heck do I go now?" frustration, but in a way that makes you want to poke around every corner. Just watch out for the jumps—some of those gaps are mean.

It’s simple, but there’s something satisfying about blasting through enemies once you’ve powered up. The pixel art’s got charm, too, especially for an MS-DOS era game. If you’re into retro platformers with a bit of magic, this one’s worth a look.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
