Game Overview

Dokapon! Millennium Quest came out for the Game Boy Color in 2000, developed by Asmik Ace Entertainment. It was one of those late-era GBC RPGs that tried to do something a little different, blending traditional role-playing with the structure of a competitive board game. You don't see many games like it on the platform, which was already shifting focus toward the Game Boy Advance by that time.

You control a custom hero, moving across a large map by rolling dice to determine your steps. The main goal is to complete quests, defeat monsters, and amass wealth and renown before your rivals. Key mechanics include turn-based combat where you choose attacks or spells, screen-by-screen exploration of towns and dungeons, and the ability to directly attack other players to steal their gold and items. The pacing is deliberate, with a high difficulty spike that punishes careless moves. It feels like a mix of calculated strategy and pure, unpredictable chaos, especially when playing with others.
