Game Overview

Double Cross came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Blue Byte. It was a time when platformers were everywhere, but this one had a particular focus on precision and traps, fitting right in with the era's appetite for challenging, screen-by-screen action.

You control a small, agile character navigating a series of single-screen rooms filled with hazards like spikes, lasers, and moving platforms. The goal is simply to reach the exit in each level, but getting there requires careful timing and memorization of enemy patterns. Key mechanics include swinging from ropes to cross gaps, activating switches to open paths, and avoiding instant-death obstacles. The pacing is relentless; mistakes are punished immediately, and the difficulty ramps up quickly. It feels tense and demanding, rewarding patience and repetition with small, hard-won victories.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
