Double Dragon II: The Revenge came out on the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Technos Japan. It was a solid port of the arcade game, fitting right in with the beat 'em ups that were popular on the system at the time. The Japanese version, in particular, was known for its smoother performance and slightly different enemy behavior compared to the overseas release.
You control either Billy or Jimmy Lee, moving screen by screen to defeat the Black Warriors gang and avenge Marian's death. The combat relies on punches, kicks, and special moves like the cyclone spin kick; you can also grab enemies to knee them or throw them off platforms. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially in later stages with bottomless pits and aggressive enemy spawns. It feels responsive and satisfying when your attacks connect, though friendly fire in two-player mode leads to plenty of accidental brawls.
