Game Overview

Double Target - Cynthia no Nemuri is one of those weird, moody Master System games that makes you wonder how it even got made. You control two characters—a guy with a gun and a girl with psychic powers—switching between them to navigate creepy, maze-like levels. The guy handles combat, while the girl can phase through walls or stun enemies, which sounds simple until you realize you’re constantly juggling them to survive.

The whole thing has this eerie, half-dream vibe, like someone mixed a survival horror prototype with an 8-bit puzzle game. The Japanese title ("Cynthia’s Sleep") fits—everything feels slightly off, from the flickering lights to the way enemies just materialize out of nowhere. It’s janky in that classic SEGA way, but there’s something weirdly compelling about piecing together how these two characters’ abilities actually work together. Definitely not your average run-and-gun.

If you’re into obscure retro games that feel like they’re from an alternate timeline, this one’s a trip.
