Dragon Slayer - Eiyuu Densetsu is one of those old-school RPGs that feels both familiar and a little rough around the edges. You start off picking your party from classic fantasy archetypes—fighters, mages, clerics—and immediately get thrown into a world where towns feel cozy but dungeons are brutal. The turn-based combat’s straightforward, but some of those early fights can wipe you out if you’re not careful.

It’s got that classic Falcom charm, though. The music’s solid, and there’s something satisfying about slowly building up your team, even if the random encounters get a bit much later on. If you’ve played other Dragon Slayer games, you’ll spot some familiar ideas, but this one really set the groundwork for The Legend of Heroes series. Just don’t expect modern conveniences—grinding’s part of the deal here.
