Game Overview

Drug Wars came out in 1984 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by John E. Dell. It was one of those early text-based strategy games that felt right at home on a monochrome monitor, simple in presentation but surprisingly deep in its mechanics. You didn't need fancy graphics to get hooked; the tension came from the numbers and the constant risk of everything falling apart.

You play as a small-time drug dealer starting with a little cash, trying to build an empire. The goal is to buy low and sell high across different cities, all while managing your cash, avoiding police busts, and dealing with fluctuating prices. Each turn represents a day where you check market prices, make deals, and sometimes get robbed or arrested. The pacing is relentless; one bad purchase or an unexpected event can wipe you out completely. It feels like a high-stakes gamble where every decision matters right up to the last screen.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
