Game Overview

Duke it out in D.C. came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, published by 3D Realms. It was one of those expansions that felt right at home in the era of shareware shooters, building on the Duke Nukem 3D engine to deliver another dose of over-the-top action. The game drops you into a warped version of Washington D.C., where aliens have invaded and Duke is, once again, the only one who can clean up the mess.

You control Duke Nukem, moving through a series of interconnected levels filled with enemies, secret areas, and interactive environments. Your main goal is to fight your way through famous D.C. landmarks, from the Capitol Building to the Pentagon, using an arsenal of weapons like the shotgun, pipe bombs, and the iconic shrink ray. The gameplay emphasizes exploration and fast-paced combat; you'll blast enemies, solve simple environmental puzzles, and hunt for keys to progress. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels chaotic and absurd in the best way, like a Saturday morning cartoon with way more explosions.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
