Game Overview

Duke: Nuclear Winter came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by WizardWorks Group, Inc. It was a holiday-themed expansion for Duke Nukem 3D, arriving at a time when first-person shooters were experimenting with wild, often humorous, standalone scenarios. The game drops you into a winter wonderland overrun by aliens, complete with snow, elves, and a lot of festive chaos.

You play as Duke Nukem, armed with his usual arsenal, fighting through snowbound levels filled with alien enemies dressed in holiday gear. The main goal is straightforward: blast your way from one area to the next, clearing out hostiles and surviving environmental hazards. Signature mechanics include using holiday-themed weapons, like the Freezethrower, and navigating icy terrain that affects movement and combat. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a chaotic, tongue-in-cheek romp through a bizarre seasonal twist on the Duke formula.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
