Game Overview

Duke Nukem: Episode 3 – Trapped in the Future came out in 1991 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series from Apogee Software. It was a time when side-scrolling action games were common, and this one fit right in with its straightforward, level-based design and sci-fi setting.

You control Duke Nukem, moving through a futuristic city overrun by robots. Your main goal is to find the exit in each level while shooting enemies and collecting keycards to open doors. The game uses screen by screen exploration, with hidden passages often concealing weapon upgrades or health packs. Combat relies on a mix of jumping and shooting, with weapons like the pistol and later more powerful guns. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, especially with limited lives. It feels tense and rewarding when you finally clear a tricky section after a few attempts.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
