Game Overview

Dune II – Kampf um den Wüstenplaneten is where real-time strategy games got their start, and honestly? It still feels surprisingly good to play. You pick one of three houses—Atreides, Harkonnen, or Ordos—and suddenly you're knee-deep in sandworms and spice fields, scrambling to build refineries before the enemy raids your harvesters.

The first time I played, I lost my entire base because I forgot to train infantry. Lesson learned: those little guys matter when enemy tanks roll in. The pixel graphics have this rough, dusty charm, and there's something weirdly satisfying about watching your tiny units crawl across the desert, even if half of them get blown up by a stray missile turret.

It's slower than modern RTS games, sure, but that just means every decision—where to expand, when to attack—actually sticks. If you've ever wondered where StarCraft or Command & Conquer got their DNA, here's your answer. Just don't blame me when you lose track of time trying to reclaim Arrakis.
