Dungeons and Dragons on the Sega Genesis came out in 1990, published by Sega. It was one of the few attempts to bring a party-based RPG to the console at that time, offering a different flavor from the more common action or platforming titles. You don't see many games from that era trying to manage a full adventuring group.

You control a party of four characters, moving them together through a series of dungeons. The main goal is to explore these labyrinths, fighting monsters and gathering enough power to eventually face a dragon. Combat happens in real time; you swing your sword or cast spells directly, but you also have to manage each character's health and magic points carefully. The game is methodical, even slow, and it can be quite difficult if you rush into fights unprepared. It feels like a tense, hands-on struggle for survival where every healing potion matters.
