Game Overview

Earthworm Jim on the Game Boy came out in 1995, a portable take on the console hit from Shiny Entertainment. It arrived when platformers dominated handhelds, offering a dose of its weird humor and action on a smaller, monochrome screen.

You control Jim, an earthworm in a robotic suit, navigating side scrolling stages filled with mutant chickens and other bizarre foes. Your main goal is to rescue Princess What's Her Name from the villain Psy Crow. You use your head as a whip to attack and to swing from hooks, and you also get a limited supply of plasma shots for tougher enemies. The game moves at a brisk pace, with some tricky jumps and enemy placements that demand quick reactions. It feels chaotic and a little rough around the edges, but landing a perfect swing or clearing a crowded screen is genuinely satisfying.
