Epic came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Ocean Software Ltd. It was one of those early PC titles that tried to bring a console-style action adventure to the keyboard, back when DOS gaming was full of experiments and rough edges.
You control a warrior exploring a large, interconnected world screen by screen, fighting monsters with a sword and occasionally a bow. Your main goal is to collect pieces of a powerful artifact scattered across the land, which involves navigating dungeons, solving simple puzzles, and gathering keys to progress. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with limited health and aggressive enemies. Playing it feels like slowly mapping out a dangerous, mysterious place where every new screen could bring a threat or a small discovery.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
