Game Overview

Evil Crypt is one of those MS-DOS Classic Games releases that never got a proper publisher credit, but it found its way onto shareware disks and BBS downloads in the early 90s. It fits right in with the era's dungeon crawlers, where low resolution and limited color palettes did little to soften the sense of dread. You start with almost nothing; the game gives you a name, a flicker of light, and the immediate understanding that you are not welcome here.

You control an adventurer delving into a multi-level crypt, fighting skeletons, avoiding traps, and hunting for a way out. Movement is screen by screen; each new room could hold treasure, a monster, or a dead end. Combat is simple but tense, often requiring careful positioning since health is scarce and enemies hit hard. The main goal is survival, but hidden switches and locked doors encourage thorough exploration. It is a slow, methodical game where mistakes are costly and progress feels earned. Every step deeper into the crypt makes the silence feel heavier and the shadows more threatening.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
