Fantastic Four came out in 1997 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by Acclaim Entertainment. It was a side-scrolling beat 'em up that fit right in with the era's fondness for comic book adaptations, offering a straightforward take on the team's adventures without much pretense or polish.
You control one of the four heroes, Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, or the Thing, each with unique attacks and movement. The goal is to fight through waves of enemies, screen by screen, using punches, projectiles, and special abilities. Mr. Fantastic uses stretchy limbs to hit from a distance, the Thing relies on raw power, the Torch flies and shoots fire, and Sue can turn invisible or throw force fields. The pacing is brisk, though the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. It feels like a rough but earnest tribute, capturing the chaotic energy of a comic book brawl with all the quirks of its time.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
